Senior Sendoff: Joy Horn - Locust Fork High School

Name: Joy Horn

High School: Locust Fork

What was your most memorable meet and why?
Oneonta track meet where me and my teammates PR on our events

Where did you face your biggest competition?
Sectionals. Our 2a section 4 had some tough competition.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why?
Long jump PR. That has always been my favorite event and have been training hard for it.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school?
More aggressive training and working out with weights to be better prepared physically

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career?
Training without the proper track facility and equipment to be ready when I got to track meets. Sometimes the only time I got to jump in a pit was at the track meet.

What will you miss the most?
The track family. Being able to cheer on my teammates and them doing the same for me.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
Train, train and find a goal and push yourself towards. Jump any hurdle that comes in your way to achieve what goal you have set.

What are your post-high school or college plans? Who would you like to say thank you to?
Plan on coming back to my high school to be an assistant coach next year and hopefully many more. I would like to thank Coach Dake for getting us access to a facility to be able to practice properly and be better prepared. For pushing us beyond our comfort zone and try new things to see we have more in us than we thought.
