Senior Sendoff: Braxton Sanford - Corner High School

Name: Braxton Sanford

High School: Corner High School

What was your most memorable meet and why?
The MLK Indoor meet this year, my goal had been to clear 14' for the longest and I finally cleared it.

Where did you face your biggest competition?
Outdoor meet at Helena this year jumping against the wind and 6A & 7A vaulters. Rough but fun day.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why?
Maintaining my grades all while learning remotely for half the year, working and training. The last two years have taught me a lot about myself and what I can do if I push myself.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school?
I would train harder and push myself more than I did.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career?
Moving to Missouri for hockey and then moving back and not being eligible to compete my 10th grade year.

What will you miss the most?
Some of my team, my coaches and the friends I made along the way.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
Push yourself and train hard but have fun. You can't win it all so lose with your head held high and shake the hands of your opponents.

What are your post-highschool or college plans? Who would you like to say thank you to?
I will be attending the University of Montevallo and will be part of their track team. I plan to be a high school math teacher and coach. Thank you to my 8th grade math teacher Mrs Jennifer Rouse for helping me realize how much I like math.
