Senior Sendoff: Aaron Foster - Wetumpka

Wetumpka High School

My most memorable meet was the 2019 sectional meet. Our 4x8 team ran a 20 second season best and broke the school record by 11 seconds. Then the next day I placed 7 spots ahead of my seed and ran a 7 second pr to qualify for state in the 800 and doubled back to run a school record and season best to qualify for state in the 4x4.

My biggest competition was at the 2019 state meet. We were put up against some fast teams in the 4x8 that we hadn't faced all season; as well as in the 800. The competition was tough, but it was an honor to race alongside them.

My biggest accomplishment was with my team back at cross country sectionals in 2016. We were projected to get 2nd place by 8 points to Opelika. We came together as a team and ended up winning the meet by 1 point and qualifying for state.

I would believe in myself more often. So many races I would give up on myself and run a bad time. Believing in myself got me to run the best times I ever had and got me to really compete.

Overcoming a move from one state to another was very difficult. Having to adapt to new weather, course, and team environments was difficult, but it was worth it.

I will miss the relays the most. 4x8 and 4x4. Best races to run.

My advice for younger athletes would be to train hard and not to give up on yourself or your team.

I plan on running xc and track at Spring Hill College.

I would like to say thank you to all my friends, family, teammates, and coaches. Especially Coach B for believing me and showering me in unconditional love from my first practice freshman year to my last race as a senior.
