Senior Sendoff: Ka’mari Webb - Greensboro HS

Athlete Name: Ka'mari Webb
Webb School: Greensboro High School

What was your most memorable meet and why? My most memorable track meet was this year's State Meet where I became 4A State Champion in 110m hurdlers. That day reminded me of how much hard work pays off.

Where did you face your biggest competition? I faced my biggest competition during my freshman and sophomore seasons when I competed against Trey Cunningham in several races. However, those experiences pushed me to train harder and smarter towards my goals in the hurdles.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why? My biggest accomplishment was winning two 4A State Team Championships with my teammates as a Greensboro Raider! This stands out to me because this will forever be one of the greatest memories of my senior year surrounded by great teammates and coaches.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school? If I could do it again, I would've added the 400m to my skill set because it would have helped prepare me for the 300m hurdles.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career? My biggest obstacle was overcoming myself. I'm really hard on myself…no matter what others around me say, I always look for ways to improve. Hurdles is a technical event and every tiny improvement I make will improve my overall performance. Having to tell myself that every day can be a challenge at times.

What will you miss the most? My teammates, my coaches, and Greensboro High School.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes? Stay humble, be respectful, and always remember to do your very best because you never know who is watching you. Success in life isn't as much about winning but the process of getting there.

What are your post-high school or college plans? I plan to attend Meridian Community College to run track, then transfer to a 4-year college where I will continue track and field while furthering my education.

Who would you like to say thank you to? First I have to thank God for giving me the ability, the strength, and for watching over me all these years and beyond! I would like to thank Coach Xavian Evans and Coach Courtney Jackson for pushing me to be who I am today and seeing something in me that I didn't see in myself. My mom, grandma, and sister for helping me to discover and pursue my passion. The rest of the coaching staff and school administration because it takes a village to raise a family. Lastly but not least, I want to thank my teammates for always supporting me through it all.
