Before the season even began, Winfield City (AL) High senior Trey Cunningham set his 110m hurdle goal on a seemingly impossible national record. 

He wanted to break 13 seconds -- which has never been done before. 

The fastest the Florida State University recruit got was in late March when he tied a career-best in 13.35 seconds at the Mobile Meet of Champions. Then he overcame some minor injuries before settling back into the groove. Friday marked his first time back to competition in the 110m hurdles at the Alabama High School Athletic Association's Track and Field Championships. 

Cunningham cruised to a top time of 14.32 seconds, but there's still a long ways to go. He could get there. 

Meanwhile, on the girls side, Cheltenham's Chanel Brissett, who was one of three girls to go under 13 seconds in the 100m hurdles a year ago, is still inching closer to her career best with about a month to go before her state title games.
