Athlete Name: Aaron Beane
School: James Clemens High School
What was your most memorable meet and why?
I would say my most memorable meet would probably be outdoor state this year. It didn't go as planned but I got better each race, and finished on a high note. I also got to see so many great friends and face great competition (shout out to the group me squad).
Where did you face your biggest competition?
I would say I faced my biggest competition at Indoor state. I went to deeper meets this year. However, the races at indoor state to me were unparalleled in the means of the ferocity of racing taking place. No matter how good of a sea on I was having I had to be on my A game.
Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why?
I would say dropping 21 seconds off my 1600 PR from this year to last year, getting the school record in it, and scoring a point in at indoor state. Oh and I ran it at practically every indoor meet and pr'd every time I ran it. So that was crazy. (4:31)
If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
Besides wishing I had started earlier, absolutely nothing, it was a blast.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
Just mental challenges. All last year i could kill practice but not races. Once I figured out the right mindset, this year I just took off towards my true potential.
What will you miss the most?
The people. I love everyone from parents, to coaches, to team mates, to my fellow competitors, and yes even you Tim Loreman.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
Just go after it. I promise if you can last 3/4 through what you're aiming to do, the rest will be there. Kill it!
What are your post-highschool or college plans?
I will be running XC and Track at Birmingham Southern College, where I plan to Major in Biology (Pre-PT).
Who would you like to say thank you to?
I want to thank God first and foremost I would not be near where I am without him. I would also like to thank my family, friends, team mates, opponents, and coaches, who have believed in me every step of the way. God bless, and good luck to you all in the future!
