Senior Spotlight - Hampton Addiss

Athlete Name: Hampton Addiss

School: Daphne High School

What was your most memorable meet and why? These past sectionals, I finally made it to state with my 4x800 guys

Where did you face your biggest competition? I'm sure most people would put a meet here, but my biggest competition came in practice everyday with my teammates, they pushed my hard every single day, and made me the runner I am now.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why? I think going to state with my 4x8 guys stands out the most because of how hard we worked for it. To see that work pays off is something else.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school? I probably wouldn't try running on a sprained ankle another time around, haha. That made me miss a significant amount of time.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome? I was hit by a car sophomore year that kept me out for a year. Coming back from that was pretty difficult in that I hadn't run in so long.

What will you miss the most? Doing what I love with my teammates that I grew up with every single day. Putting on the Trojan purple every meet.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes? Do not give up on running. Yes it hurts, yes there will be times you will want to quit. But it is the single greatest sport on this Earth, and you don't want to miss out on it.

What are your post-highschool or college plans? To run for Pratt CC in Pratt, KS.

Who would you like to say thank you to? My track Coach Thomas, my cross country coaches, Jeremy, Hutch, and Andrews. And the Lord above for giving me the ability to compete in running for so long.
