Amaris Tyynismaa competes at sectionals.
4A happens to have the top girl in the state (who also set the state meet record last year) and went on to run 16:57 at FL South. Freshman Amaris Tyynismaa returns to defend her state title. This season, Tyynismaa hasnt quite hit the times she did her 8th grade year. Dont read that as she isnt fast....she still leads the state...it just so happens that after mid September last year she never went above 17:41 where as she has only gone under 18 minutes once this season.
One of the more interesting match ups might be between Wilson senior Cele Moon and West Limestone 8th grader Cassidy Winter. These two girls have similar times throughout the season. Moon started off the season relatively slow not quite at the times we typically see from her. In recent weeks though she has dropped back to what we expect to see. Both girls won their sectional meets.
Team scores are a big question mark for the girls. On paper Rogers is 20 points ahead of Wilson. I dont think that is quite true.... in fact I have picked Wilson over Rogers....call it a hunch. West Limestone will be competing for 3rd place.
BOYS
Ryan Ford competes at the University of Alabama Crimson Classic
Ryan Ford (Westminster Christian) is the clear favorite among 4A Boys. Ford has led the 4A Boys all season and looks to improve on his 2nd place finish last year. He ran 15:30 at Jesse Owens but hasnt quite his that mark again. Competition up front will be John Patrick Brinyard (Northside) and Sam Smith (West Blocton). Both of the later are around the 16:25 mark.
Whoooo team scores......LAMP or Northside? LAMP or Northside? LAMP? possibly.... West Limestone is a 3rd place contender.... LAMP beat them head to head at sectionals.
