The 1A/2A Girls have quite a few top finishers from 2014 returning this year including the state champion and runner up. Below are the rankings for returners in each of the 1A/2A sectionals.
Flomaton High School sophomore Shelby Barnes returns to Cross Country after taking off Indoor and Outdoor Track. The state meet 8th place finisher hovered around the mid 21 minute mark all season before dropping 30 seconds for a PR when it mattered most.
Westminster Christian at Oak Mountain Junior Maddie Hoaglund finished 4th in the state meet last year and comes off an Outdoor Track season where she finished 3rd in the 3200 and 4th in the 1600.
St Bernard Freshman Ivy Edge returns in 2015 to defend her 2014 Individual state championship. After an Outdoor Track season where she won the 1600m and 800m at the state meet she looks to be in good shape to continue the trend this season.
Whiteburg Chrisitan Academy's Hannah Tarwater is the top returner out of Section 4. She finished 2nd at the state meet last year in 19:38. She won the 3200m at the 2015 Outdoor State Meet and finished 4th in the 800 and 3rd in the 1600. Not bad places for racing 3 1/2 miles in 2 days.
