This weekend teams from around the southeast will converge in Moulton, Alabama for the annual Chickasaw Trails Cross Country Meet. Setting a new meet record, 1998 runners will compete at the Indian Mounds. This meet has traditionally been a good early season matchup for both individuals and teams.
Austin senior standout Jennifer Dunn is no doubt looking for sunshine after a stormy home opener last week. Madeline Morgan and the rest of the Mountain Brook girls will be trying to repeat their performance last weekend at the Clara Bowl.
This weekend will also be the first time this season that Hoover will face Auburn runners Patrick Gomez and Howard Graves, both strong returners from last season. No doubt this will be a fast race with Patrick McGregor taking the race out fast -- and yes, he showed at Berry he CAN keep that pace. Tupelo (MS) should also bring something to the competition with strong returners this eason.
In the smaller schools, look for Rogers, Montgomery Academy, Lawrence County, and Cold Springs to be battling it out.
