In what might be the big story of the weekend, 8th grader Amaris Tyynismaa won the 1A-4A race in a blistering 18:42. Finishing almost a full 3 minutes ahead of the 2nd place finisher, Tyynismaa is definately going to be an athlete to watch this season.

Jack Barganier won the 1A-4A Race in 17:15 leading his team on to a win in their classification. Samuel Smith of West Blockton was second in 17:31.

5A-7A Girls
In what was almost the biggest upset of the night, ACA led after 3 runners across the line. Senior Kaitlyn York (ACA) had the fastest girl time of the night at 18:37. Her Patriots eventually took 3rd behind Hoover and Mountain Brook respectively. Pelhams Mary Grace Strozier made a late race move to close a large gap behind York but had fallen off in the last 100m. Strozier went on to finish in 2nd with 18:44.

Tommy McDonough is the new#1 man on the Hoover boys squad this year. McDonough ran 16:50 to lead his Bucaneers to a win Friday in the last race of the night. Jerric McCoy of Smiths Station had made a late move in the race but had let McDonough get too far out front to catch him. McCoy finished in 16:53.
