Ryan Kirk's Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational Blog - Day 3

Saturday

The Mountain Brook’s cross country team Saturday started early. We headed down for breakfast and after I was all filled up on dinosaur egg oatmeal we loaded up the bus for Six Flags. A short forty five minute drive later we pulled into the parking lot. As we pulled into the lot one thing kept our minds off the race the that was right around the corner; the beast of a roller coaster Kingda Ka. As we settled in on the course I started getting anxious just waiting for the gun to go off. After a quick warm up run around the water park my spikes were on and the gun was off. It was awesome to hear the whole mountain brook team cheering for us as we run by. The best part about the course was the mile in the Six Flag’s safari. It was the first race I had ever been to where a turkey “gobbled” at me as I ran by the animal enclosure.
At the finish I was so excited to hear that our team had won the race after a close finish against St. John from New Jersey. Once the last race was over we congratulated each other on the First place JV Boys and Girls finish and the third place finish of the Varsity Boys and Girls. Now that everyone had picked up their medals it was time to hit the park! The ride that everyone wanted to ride first happened to be the 127 mph Kingda Ka. Waiting in line for the ride was similar to waiting for a cross country race to start, anxious. After a mere two hour wait for the ride we were strapped in and there was no turning back. All I remember from the ride was being excited for the hill because it meant the ride was slowing down! After everyone had met their thrill seeking need, we headed back to the hotel for our last night.
