Team Announcements

We are coming off a tremendous Indoor season where the Lady Knights were state runner-up to perennial powerhouse ACA. It all came down to the 4x400m relay and the girls were able to win with a time of 4:20.75, just 2 seconds off the state record. The boys were 4th with a strong showing in the 4x800m Relay where they brought home gold. Outdoor track is moving ahead, but we are being careful...

Parents, Our girls XC team is the AHSAA 1A/2A State Champion!! The girls team performed in an exceptional way on Saturday in Moulton and left no doubt that the work they put in since June paid off. The girls scored 42 points and the next best scores were Hatton's 88 and St. Bernard's 89. The girls went into the race rated #1 in our division and our top 5 runners each had their season best...

In the past few years there has been a surge in the number of young runners in XC. My prayer is that they will fall in love with the sport as they can continue to run into their adult years. The danger is that young runners will "burn out" early in their career because we press them into service too soon. We at Westminster have made that mistake in the past as we are a 1A school with a limited...

I (as well as Coach Boone, Coach Callahan, and Coach West) am so proud of both the boys and the girls teams this year, not because of the "numbers" or trophies, but the way that you competed and represented the God that saved you through Jesus Christ. Once again I had a parent from another school ask me about my athletes and I was able to present our motivation being the Glory of God. Robbie...

About Our Team

Westminster School at Oak Mountain is a Christian Classical School that exists in order to help build Christ's Kingdom by equipping students with wisdom, virtue, and eloquence. Westminster is small school classified as 1A, yet we have had great success in just 8 years in the AHSAA. The Lady Knights have won back to back Outdoor Track and Field State Championships (2013 and 2014) and the 1A/2A State XC Championship in 2016. The boys and girls have also captured 7 State Track and Field Runner-up Trophies from 2009, 2011, 2012(2), 2013, 2015, 2106 . The boys have won 8 straight sectional championships and the girls 6 straight. Katie Brooks Boone (60m-Indoor, 400m-Indoor) and Andrew Carrell (60m hurdles-Indoor, 110m hurdles-outdoor) have set AHSAA 1A State records. Our girls 4x800m Relay team also set a state record in 2014. The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams have placed in the top 5 nine times in 6 years with the girls placing 3rd in 2012 and 2013. Both the boys and girls were State Runner-up in 2014 with the girls picking up another RU trophy in 2015.

We are also excited about our academic program at Westminster as our standard curriculum is considered "honors". We have an median ACT® score of 29 for our 66 graduates while the class of 2015 has 4 National Merit® Semi-Finalists. In the short history of the school, we have also received recognition for 4 National Merit Finalists® and one being a National Merit Scholar®.

We are blessed to have the opportunity to live as a community of believers who depend on the saving Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; serving Him at His pleasure. If you have questions about our school or about our Faith, feel free to contact me.
