Jordan Geist after record throw Apr 07, 2017

COLUMBIA, SC - Knoch Senior and shot put stud Jordan Geist came down to South Carolina to get in some early season competition in at the Bojangles Track and Field Classic. The Arizona commit took part in the Friday Night Thunder shot put competition and took the win throwing a meet record 74'10.25". The mark is also a current US No. 2 only behind Adrian Piperi of The Woodlands (TX).  The mark breaks the old meet record of 63'7" set back in 1997 by 2012 Olympic Bronze Medalist Reese Hoffa. Geist will be throwing again today in the discus and will look to claim another meet record. The current record of 190'10" was set in 2011 by Justin Osking of Florida. Geist's current PR is 197'11". Boys 400 Heat 14 - Godwin 46.34, Sawyers 46.43 Apr 08, 2017

COLUMBIA, SC - The boys 400m dash at the Bojangles Track and field Classic was one for the ages. Newton's (GA) Elija Godwin and High Point Christian Academy's (NC) Chantz Sawyers battled down to the wire. At the line, it was Godwin who would come away with the win running new US No 3. mark of 46.34. That time also ties the meet record set back in 2004 by Cedric Goodman from Newnan, Georgia. Sawyers was not far behind Godwin dropping a new US No. 5 time of 46.43 to take 2nd. Rounding out the top four in the race were Stratford's Davonte Fuller (47.44) and New Hampstead's Andre Jeff (47.72). Godwin also came back and dominated the 200m dash running a new US No. 8 wind-legal time of 21.31.
