BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced the 2011 Commissioner’s All-Academic Team, recognizing 768 student-athletes from the conference’s 10 member institutions who achieved academic success during the 2010-11 academic school year. The team honors student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Talk about saving the best for last, Alabama A&M sophomore Nathan Stephens completed an improbable comeback Friday at the 2010 SWAC Track & Field Championships making up 223 points in the final event of the decathlon to become the Bulldogs’ first SWAC champion in the event since Patrick Lockhart won back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004.
Results / Jacksonville, Ala. - The men's track and field team competed in the Jacksonville State University Gem of the Hills Invitational this past weekend. The Bulldogs scored 67 total team points for a sixth place finish out of 15 teams. Sean Delisser and Kwesi Toney Jr. highlighted A&M's success with second place finishes in three events. Delissner finished the 100 meters in 10.94 seconds and 200 meter in 21.66 seconds. Toney finished the 400m hurdles in 55.09 seconds.
Alabama A&M sophomore Nathan Stephens dominated the field Friday at the Morehouse Relays outdistancing the competition by 602 points in the 10-event decathlon. Stevens finished with an individual total of 5906 points. Kentucky State's Wade Ervin scored 5304 points to finish a distant second place.
Sean Delisser was named SWAC Co-Runner of the Week for his performance at the Tennessee Invitational this past weekend. He placed second in both the 55-meter and 200-meter dash. Delisser had a time of 6.43 in the 55-meter event while recording a 22:29 time in the 200-meter dash.

MURFREESBORO, TN - Results / Alabama A&M had one of its better indoor track and field team performances Saturday at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational since the program was reinstated last year. On the men's side, the day was highlighted by Sterling Jewel's second place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 45-1 1/2 feet, which topped his seeding distance by over two feet. The men's and women's 4x440 relay teams also shined with the men winning the event (3:32.18) and the women placing second (4:09.76).
