*Sanctioned through the AHSAA schools for Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Mississippi schools. Schools must be members of their state's association in order to participate in the JOC!

*Small Schools may register for Large Schools Race on Saturday, Oct 3rd.

Eligibility Status for this race: 1A-4A Alabama: Up to 373 students in grades 10-12

*1A-2A Division: 221 Students or less in grades 10-12 (1A-2A Alabama)

*3A-4A Division: 222 to 373 students in grades 10-12 (3A-4A Alabama)

*We follow the AHSAA guidelines for determining a school's race category. Therefore, out of state private schools must multiply enrollment by 1.35% (grades 10-12) to determine division that your team will compete in.

*Due to COVID19, the Jesse Owens Classic 2020 has become a two day event with the "Small Schools" Divisions competing on Friday, Oct 2nd.

Race Day Schedule: (The Gold Division is not an open division, however, it is a race for a team's top 7 runners)

Entry Fees:

>$80 per division, not to exceed $320 per school, $20 per individual runner for teams not having 5 runners.

Awards:

>Top 10 finishers ea division will receive an award tee shirt.

>Top 5 finishers in each division receive a medal.

>Top 3 teams in each division receive trophies

>1st finisher in each division receives a trophy.

COVID-19 Safety UPDATE/GUIDELINES:

*Finish Chute will be lengthen and widen. Also, the finish chute will be barricaded whereas there will be a 10 ft distance between the finish line fence and spectators.

*The starting line will be barricaded from spectators. The starting line will consist of 3-4 lines within a team's starting block, whereas 7 runners will line up as follows: top 2 runners first line, runners 3-4 next line, runners 5-6 next line and runner #7 on the last line. The lines within a team's starting block will be 1 ft apart. Starting box assignments will be given at packet pickup.

*Coaches should use good judgement in setting up team tents in regards to social distancing. In addition to expanding the usual tent area at Oakville, we ask you to use the boarders of the lake and the east side of the starting area.

*All spectators are encouraged to social distance and wear face mask *There will be limited pre-packaged concession on sale *The line starting line staff will notify teams when they may approach the starting line. (5 minutes before race time)

*Only coaches, runners and race staff will be allowed access to the staring line *Runners may wear a mask into the starting box, secure in hand while running or on shorts, and put back on while in the finish chute *Limited finish line staff will be available *Bottle water will be provided for each runner *Timing chips will not be taken off at the finish chute *Coaches will return race packets including race chips to the registration tent after completion of the race *Schools will be invoiced $25 for each chip not returned
