Good morning - In reviewing the weather forecast for Thursday (WeatherBug App), it looks like compared to yesterday, the rain chances have DECREASED around race time.

What the forecast is now (10/29 8:00 am) saying.....

11 am - Cloudy, 56 degrees, with a 50% chance of rain with 12 mph wind.
noon - Cloudy, 53 degrees, with a 50% chance of rain with 11 mph wind.
1 pm - Cloudy, 51 degrees, with a 50% chance of rain with 12 mph wind.
2 pm - Cloudy, 49 degrees, with a 10% chance of rain with 12 mph wind.
3 pm - Cloudy, 48 degrees, with a0%chance of rain with 12 mph wind.
4 pm - Cloudy, 47 degrees, with a0%chance of rain with 12 mph wind.

It is important that all coaches are aware of the AHSAA rules regarding our sport. I suggest you take a few minutes to review the AHSAA Cross Country Sports Book which can be found athttp://ahsaa.com/Portals/0/Publications/2019-20/71649%20crosscountryweb.pdf?ver=2019-07-25-082851-403. In the Book is also a description of how each team qualifies for State.

Directions:

Exit 73 off of Interstate 20/59 in Alabama. Then take a right (if coming from Birmingham) on McFarland Blvd. west. Go approximately 5.25 miles and make a right turn onto Watermelon Road. Go 2 miles, make a right turn at Old Colony Road. Go approximately .3 mile taking a left into Sokol Park. Plenty of bus and automobile parking is available on the left as you head toward the race area .25 miles down the road.

Back way:

Exit I20/59 at University Blvd (Exit number 79).Head north on AL-7/US-11 S/University Blvd E for 3.2 miles.The road will split, bear right and continue 2.3 miles.Take a right on Crescent Ridge Road and go 2.3 miles.

Take a left on Jack Warner Parkway. Go .9 mile. You will pass Holt High School.Take a right on State Route 297 and go over the bridge.At the end of the bridge, take a right. The road sign says toward Lake Tuscaloosa. This road is Rice Mine Road. Go 1.2 miles.At the first light, take a left on Ol Colony Road. The sign at the intersection says New Watermelon Road. Go 1.3 miles.Turn right into Sokol Park.Plenty of bus and automobile parking is available on the left as you head toward the race area .25 miles down the road.

Schedule:

High School Girls 5,000 meters time 1:30 pm

High School Boys 5,000 meters time 2:15 pm

Awards following the conclusion of Boys race

All times are approximate.

Note the 1A2A, 4A and 6A will be combined race.

Entries:

The entry fee is $17 per athlete with a maximum of $85 per school per individual race i.e. a school that has a Varsity Girls team and a Varsity Boys team would pay $170. Check payable to American Christian Academy Cross Country. Entry fees are to be mailed to 2300 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404 or you can bring to the meet.

Maximum of 10 athletes per school per race.

Each school must have competed in at least 3 meets during the season for the school to be eligible to compete at Sectionals.

Registration:

Go tohttps://al.milesplit.com. Choose the meet under the Calendar heading. Click on the button and follow the instructions. Deadline for entry is Sunday, October 27 at 10:59 pm (Central)

Please make sure that your teams' roster has been updated included grade-level information prior to registration.Per the AHSAA, any team that registers for this meet and does not show up to the race will be subject to a monetary fine. These teams will also be responsible for the entry fees.

Awards:

Top 2 teams will receive a trophy and the Top 5 athletes will receive a medal recognizing them as All-Section.

Course:

Grass and dirt. Spikes recommended.
