Life of a Runner: Cameron Deloach

It does not seem as if we are at this point in the XC season where county is over but yet here we are. Tuesday the team hosted the Shelby County Championships on our home course. Everyone seemed as excited as we could be about it and when we got out in the race I could feel that the team's overall energy was up, which is always a good sign when we get out. Of course, like every other team there, we were hoping to end up with a trophy, but we finished one spot off in third on both the girls' and boys' side. It was bittersweet because I felt like that was one of the best efforts we gave this season but the results weren't there. However, we did experience some success with Erika Kulp, Anna Puckett and Shai Hunter all finishing in the top twenty on the girls' side  in sixth, tenth and twentieth, and Michael Johnson and Alex Coleman finishing in the top twenty on the boys' side, in second and fifth.

While the results weren't what we wanted we have to move forward and look to improve at the Husky Challenge. I think that is what you have to do when you don't get the performance you wanted. You have to try harder so that there is no room to think of what you could have done when the race over. You can't wait for excellence to manifest itself in cross country, you have to go after it and make it happen. Stay fast and injury free everyone!
