Alabama Girls Cross Country Performer of the Week Aug. 24-30

After another week of cross country racing in Alabama, it's time to vote for the MileSplit Alabama girls cross country performer of the week.

This Week's Nominees:

Caroline Couey, Opelika High School (Alabama): A time of 18:52.41 over 5K carried the field at the 30th Annual Tiger Classic, with almost two full minutes separating first from second among 133 finishers. The mark also ranks No. 7 of 788 athletes in MileSplit's database at Kiesel Park since 2019.

Rachel Sloughfy, Jacksonville (Alabama): Covered 5K in 21:08.91 to win the Pleasant Valley Raider Run Invitational by 19.9 seconds among 138 finishers. That time also sits at No. 6 of 514 athletes in MileSplit's database at Pleasant Valley High School since 2019, and it improved on a prior mark of 24:52.53 on the same course by 223.6 seconds.

Kyndal Hughes, Fort Payne (Alabama): Crossed the line first at the Black & Gold Classic sponsored by Bradford Wellness, clocking 18:47.30 for 5K and holding off the field by 11.1 seconds across 102 finishers. The time ranks No. 22 of 2,291 athletes in MileSplit's database at John R. Esslinger Trail of Champions since 2019.

Jaxson Bruce, Plainview High School (Alabama): Won the Black & Gold Classic sponsored by Bradford Wellness in 20:59.58 for 5K, finishing 16.4 seconds ahead of the next runner among 63 finishers. The performance places No. 269 of 2,291 athletes in MileSplit's database at John R. Esslinger Trail of Champions since 2019.

Grace Goldman, Hartselle (Alabama): Took first at the 16th Annual Pepsi XC Challenge, running 17:53.00 for 5K and finishing 15.6 seconds clear of the field among 151 finishers.
