A Look Back at Indoor Track

Note:  This is one of a series of stories looking back on the best games/performances/contests of the 2010-11 Alabama State Athletic Season.  Today's "look back" focuses on the Lady Hornets Championship run at the SWAC Indoor Track and Field Meet and the Hornets third-place finish.

BATON ROUGE, La.—The Alabama State University women's track and field team had a commanding 33 point lead heading into today's final round, and did nothing but expand that lead as the won the SWAC Indoor Track and Field Championship with a combined 151 points. Prairie View was the second closest team in points with 103.
Kesia Derilus took home Most Outstanding Performer honors as she led the Lady Hornets in scoring with 29 individual points. She had a championship in the 3,000 meter run, finished second in the mile run, third in the 5,000 meter run and fourth in the 800 meter run.

Head Coach Ritchie Beene took home the SWAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year honors.

The men had a lot of points to make up and made a huge jump, all the way from eighth after the first day of competition to finish third with a total of 81.3333 points.

Grambling State was the overall winner and Jackson State finished second, less than 10 points in front of the Hornets.

Quintavious Lockhart brought home a championship by winning the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.16.
