We saw some spectacular 1 Mile runs at the RunningLane Track Championships for Alabama athletes. As part of the meet Xpress Timing was capturing enroute1600 meter splits, which resulted in many athletes earning not only mile personal bests but 1600m personal bests. Topping the list was JT Hayes who came in with a life time best of 4:11.10 which he ran at the 2026 AHSAA State Championships. I spoke with JT briefly after his performance, JT mentioned that the majority of his high school career he would use his great finishing speed to win races strategically. He used the pacers and pace lights at RTC to really test himself and push his limits and it paid off with nearly an 8 second PR!
