MONTGOMERY—Delorean Peek, Tia Rolle and Jeffery Adams from the Alabama State University's track and field team will compete in the 2011 NCAA Track and Field East Regional this weekend in Bloomington, Ind.

The East Regional will be held May 26-28 at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on the campus of Indiana University. The first round of the track events will begin at 2:25 CDT.

Peek will run the 400 meter dash while Rolle will be in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Adams will compete in the 110 meter hurdles.

Peek qualified for the 400m dash with a time of 47.20, the 38th fastest time in the region.

Rolle qualified for the 100 meter dash with the 28th fastest time in the region at 11.53. Her time of 23.79 in the 200 meter dash is the 38th fastest time in the region.

Adams did not get the call from the NCAA until yesterday (Tuesday) that he could move off the alternate list and into the field of 48. His qualifying time in the 110m hurdles was 14.28.

“Practice went well for all three,” Hornets head track and field Coach Ritchie Beene said. “I am excited for them and I am also excited to see how they will perform.”

It will be Rolle and Adams first visit to the regional and Peek's second visit.

“Peek has been to the nationals before, and Rolle went to the D-II nationals as a member of Lincoln University last year, but it is her first time as well as Adams first time to go to the D-I nationals. This is a tough region but I am glad they made it. As always, my first priority is to see them improve and they have continued to do that during the season. I want to see them improve in the regional as well and if it is a good enough improvement for them to move on to the championships then good, but if they improve and don't move on that is good for me as well.”
