AUSTIN, Texas—Facing some of the top track and field athletes in the nation, the Alabama State University track and field performers have broken through with some solid performances at the 84th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
The tough meet features athletes that had to qualify for the meet by posting qualifying times and scores to be in the competition. Then the athletes had to work their way into finals by being some of the top performers in preliminary events. Several members of the Hornets team fought through those steps to reach the finals of several events.
The men's 4x800 meter relay team finished 10
th in the race, finishing with a time of 7:40.21. The relay team was made up of
Delorean Peek,
Christopher Duncan,
Charles Flewellen and
Jepthah Kenei. It was a close race with six teams, including ASU, finishing within six seconds of each other.
Tyrisha Chambers had an 11
th place finish in the finals of the women's high jump. Her best jump was 1.70 meters.
The final day of competition will get underway tomorrow beginning at 9:30 a.m. CST.
