CLEMSON, S.C.—Alabama State University won three events on the final day of the Clemson University Indoor Track and Field Invitational.
Jonathan Franklin won the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 49.58. The Hornets actually finished 1-2 in the race as
Vincent Butler was second with a time of 49.95.
Delorean Peek won the men's 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.30. The final first place finish came in the men's 4x400 relay where ASU finished with a time of 3:15.39.
Other top1- performances came from
Sylvester Byrd and
Shawn Lockhart in the men's 200 meter dash. Byrd finished second with a time of 22.61 and Lockhart was fourth in 22.78.
Charles Flewellen had a ninth place finish in the men's 800 meter run with a finishing time of 1:59.96.
Cody Pace had a sixth place finish in the men's 3000 meter run with a time of 10:34.60 and
Byron Kearney finished 10
th in the men's long jump with a final jump of 4.90m (16-01.00).
Like the first day of the meet, the women's track and field team had several standout performances.
Lutrisha Altidor had a second place finish in the women's 800 meter run. Her time was 2:20.59.
Tia Rolle had a solid performance in the women's 200 meter dash with a time of 25.63.
Quyanna Browne finished eighth in the women's 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.53 and
Kesia Derilus finished ninth in the women's 3000 meter run with a time of 11:32.42.
The women's 4x400 meter relay finished seventh in the event with a time of 4:00.80.
Shanice Mells and
Asha Tavernier had a couple of seventh place finishes. Mells seventh place finish was in the women's shot put where she finished with a toss of 11.74 meters (38-06.25). Tavernier finished seventh in the women's long jump with a 5.48 meter jump (17-11.75).
Tanisha Boulware completed a solid weekend of competition with an eighth place finish in the women's pole vault. She had a vault of 3.05 meters (10-00.00).
