JSU'S Curt Porter Named First-Team All-America by Associated Press

NEW YORK – Jacksonville State's Curt Porter was named to the Associated Press Football Championship Subdivision All-America team, which was released on Wednesday.

Porter, a native of Fayette, Ala., was a first-team selection at offensive line. He was named first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference last month after leading the Gamecocks to a 9-3 record and into the second round of the NCAA playoffs.

Porter graded out at 92 percent for the season, and led the team with 81 knockdowns from his offensive tackle position. The senior led the offensive line with 761 snaps, 24 pancakes and finished with 293 bonus points. He was also one of the captains on the 2010 Gamecock team.

“I'm proud that Curt was recognized for his outstanding play on the football field,” said JSU head coach Jack Crowe. “He was one of the reasons we finished with a 9-3 record and had the success on the field that we enjoyed.”

Porter becomes JSU's 49th player to earn All-American honors in school history and the 12th since the Gamecocks joined the Ohio Valley Conference in 2003.
