JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State's women's basketball team will look to continue the momentum gained after a midweek road victory at Troy as it continues its road trip on Saturday at Lipscomb. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m. at Allen Arena on the LU campus.
The Gamecocks downed the Trojans 66-58 on Wednesday to move to 2-0 on the season. Jax State will be shooting for its first 3-0 start to the season since it claimed the first three games of the 2006-07 campaign. The Lady Bisons of Lipscomb enter the contest at 0-2 after falling, 81-56, to Ohio Valley Conference member Tennessee Tech at home Thursday night. Saturday's match up will be the first meeting between the two schools on the hardwood.
First-year head coach Annette Watts will be returning to her home state of Tennessee as she is a native of the Volunteer State and attended East Tennessee State. Watts is just four wins shy of reaching the 150 career wins plateau. JSU will also be returning to its roots as it faces a team from the Atlantic Sun Conference. Jax State was a member of the A-Sun when it made the move from Division II to Division I in 1995. The Gamecocks have complied a 41-37 record against current members of the A-Sun.
