MOREHEAD, Ky. – As the Jacksonville State volleyball team preps for Thursday's meeting with Tennessee Tech in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, the Gamecocks learned that senior Caitlin Vorbeck has been named to the All-OVC squad.

Vorbeck, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter from Raytown, Mo., earned the league's all-conference nod for the second-straight season after guiding the Gamecocks (16-13, 11-7 OVC) to the No. 3 seed in this week's six-team tournament on the campus of regular season champion Morehead State. JSU will take on No. 6 Tennessee Tech on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. CT in the first round.

Vorbeck led the Gamecocks and was sixth in the OVC in kills this season, thanks to a 3.21 kills per set average. She also finished third in the league in points with 3.98 per set. Her 353 kills this season also run her career total to 1,332, which ranks fifth in school history and is just three kills shy of Amanda Sandlin in fourth.

She is part of a trio of JSU players that head into the tournament chasing career records at JSU. Senior setter Brooke Schumacher took over as the school's career assists leader in the last week of the regular season, while junior libero Lauren Harkins trails all-time digs leader Kisha West by just 52 digs.

Also playing well for the Gamecocks has been senior middle blocker Kara Slater. Over the past seven matches, the Colorado Springs, Colo., native has hit .355 for 2.75 kills per set. On the defensive side of the net, she has averaged 1.04 blocks per set during that same stretch.

The Gamecocks have won their last four matches heading into this week's tournament, a streak they will have to extend to seven if they want to make their second-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The winner of JSU's match with TTU on Thursday will take on second-seeded Austin Peay in Friday's semifinal at 3:30 p.m. CT.

JSU holds a 10-6 advantage in the all-time series with Tennessee Tech, but the Golden Eagles have won both meetings in the series this season. They were the last team to beat the Gamecocks on the floor with a 3-1 win in Jacksonville on Nov. 2.

All of the tournament matches will be streamed live on the web at www.ovcsports.tv. Fans can purchase the entire tournament for a one-time payment of just $9.95.
