JACKSONVILLE – After opening the 2010-11 season with a win at home, the Jacksonville State women's basketball team will have a pair of road tests beginning on Wednesday at in-state rival Troy. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. at Sartain Hall on the Troy campus.

Following the Troy contest, the Gamecocks will travel to Nashville, Tenn. on to face Lipscomb University on Saturday, Nov. 20.

Wednesday's duel with Trojans will be the 60th renewal between longtime rivals on the hardwood. Troy leads the series 39-20 and has claimed the last two meetings between the two programs. The last Jax State win in the series was a 72-65 home win in 2007. Since moving to the NCAA Division I level in 1995, the Gamecocks gotten the best of the Trojans and have won those games by a margin of 6.6 points.

JSU, under the direction of first-year head coach Annette Watts, is looking to move to 2-0 on the season for the first time since it started the 2006-07 season with three straight wins.

Watts registered her first win at JSU last Sunday against Stillman thanks to a pair of veterans on her first Gamecock squad. Senior Danielle Beneby sparked JSU to its 77-62 win with her first career double-double. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-native poured in 14 points and established a new career mark for rebounds with 11. Junior Brittany Wiley turned in a game-high 18 points in the season opener. Newcomers Brittany Manning, and JaDechia Hill added eight points each in their first game in a JSU uniform. As a team, JSU controlled the boards and took advantage of free throw opportunities against Stillman. Jax State pulled down 59 rebounds in the contest, the most since equaling that mark against Jackson State in December of 2002. The Red and White connected on 23-of-37 from the charity stripe, matching its mark of 23 versus Eastern Illinois in 2009.

Troy enters the midweek affair 0-2 on the early season after falling twice last weekend at the Elon Phoenix Classic. The Trojans, playing short-handed due to some off-season injuries, dropped an 83-52 decision to host-Elon on Sunday and opened the season on Friday with a 77-60 setback to Stoney Brook. Troy's Donette McNair paced the Trojan attack on Sunday with a 28 point, 15 rebound effort.

After JSU's two-game road trip, it returns to Pete Matthews Coliseum on Tuesday, Nov. 23 for its final home game in the month of November. The Gamecocks will host in-state nemesis Samford in a 7 p.m. match up.
