Jax State Football Climbs to No. 4 in Top 25 Polls

Jacksonville State moved up two spots and is ranked No. 4 in both major Football Championship Subdivision Top 25 polls following a 29-27 win over No. 7 Southeast Missouri State on Saturday.

The Gamecocks have won 16 of their last 17 games, dating back to last season, and has a chance to share the OVC Championship with a win at Tennessee Tech on Saturday.

Jax State, 9-1, received 3,457 points in The Sports Network/Fathead.com poll, and 613 points in the Coaches Poll. JSU was ranked No. 6 last week and has been ranked in the Top 10 for 11 consecutive weeks and ranked among the Top 25 for a school-record 28 straight weeks.

Saturday marks the final regular-season game for 15 Gamecock senior players. This senior class will be remembered as the winningest four-year class since the Gamecocks left the Division II ranks in 1993. This year's senior class currently has a four-year record of 31-12, which is the most wins of any other four-year class since JSU moved to Division I.

The Gamecocks travel to face Tennessee Tech on Saturday at 4 p.m. There is a fan bus making the trip from Jacksonville and you can call 256-782-5368 for more information. The game will be carried live on the Gamecock Sports Network, beginning at 3 p.m.
