FINAL STATS

JACKSONVILLE – Senior setter Brooke Schumacher became Jacksonville State's career assists leader on Friday night and led the Gamecocks to a 3-1 (25-13, 25-19, 23-25, 25-12) win over Southeast Missouri at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The Lake In the Hills, Ill., native dished out 35 assists in the win to run her career total to 4,340, five more than the previous record set by Emily Withers from 2003-06. She also led all players with 18 digs on her record-breaking night and set the Gamecocks (15-13, 10-7 Ohio Valley Conference) up for a .279 attack percentage. They hit over .300 in all three sets they won, while holding the Redhawks (6-22, 3-14 OVC) to an .085 attack percentage in the match.

The win, coupled with a Murray State win over Eastern Kentucky on Friday, secures the No. 3 seed in next week's OVC Tournament.

Schumacher's fifth double-double of the season paved the way for four Gamecocks to record double figures in kills in the match and two others to record double-doubles. Sophomore Alyx Schulte led that group with 18 kills, making up for half of her ninth double-double of the year and her fourth in the last six matches. The cold Spring, Ky., native added 17 digs on the back row, her sixth-straight outing with 10 or more.

Senior Caitlin Vorbeck's fifth double-double of the year was driven by a 10-kill effort on a .321 attack percentage. The Raytown, Mo., native passed A.J. Sanders into fifth place on the school's career kills list with 1,318, while also grabbing 12 digs on defense. Junior Lauren Harkins wrapped up a group of four players with double-digit digs with 16.

Sophomore Jen Meyer used a .435 attack percentage on just 23 swings to put down 13 kills, while senior Kara Slater hit .364 in adding 10 kills. A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., Slater was in on six of JSU's eight blocks in the match.

Andrea Baylin led SEMO on offense with 12 kills, while Kelly Benacka's 17 digs led the Redhawks' defense.
