Jax State Ranked No. 6 in FCS Football Polls

Jacksonville State is ranked No. 6 in both major Football Championship Subdivision Top 25 polls, which were released on Monday.

The Gamecocks, 8-1, received 3,095 points for sixth place in The Sports Network/Fathead.com poll and received 557 points in the Coaches Poll to be ranked sixth.

Jax State has been ranked for 27 straight weeks, which is the longest such stretch in school history, passing 24 straight weeks on the Division II level in the early 1990s. JSU has been ranked in the Top 10 for 10 straight weeks, and that's the most for an OVC school since Tennessee State was ranked in the Top 10 for 10 weeks during the 1999 season.

Saturday marks the final regular-season home game for 15 Gamecock senior players. This senior class will be remembered as the winningest four-year class since the Gamecocks left the Division II ranks in 1993. This year's senior class currently has a four-year record of 30-12, which is the most wins of any other four-year class since JSU moved to Division I.

The Gamecocks host No. 7/8 Southeast Missouri State on Saturday at Burgess-Snow Field. It's the first time that two OVC schools will face each other while ranked in the Top 10 since Nov. 4, 1995, when EKU (5) faced Murray State (8).

Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. and tickets are available by calling the JSU Athletic Ticket Office at 256-782-8499.
