FINAL STATS

NASHVILLE – Tennessee State rallied to win the final two sets on Saturday afternoon to hand the Jacksonville State volleyball team a 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 19-25, 25-14, 15-11) defeat in Nashville.

The Lady Tigers (8-15, 6-9 Ohio Valley Conference) hit .272 and held the Gamecocks (12-12, 7-6 OVC) to a .139 attack percentage in handing JSU its third loss in a row. It was the final regular season road match for the Gamecocks, who have their final five matches at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

For the Gamecocks, junior Lauren Harkins reached the 20-dig mark for the fifth time in her last six matches. In just her third season, the Louisville, Ky., native pushed her career digs total to 1,594, six away from becoming just the third player in school history to dig 1,600 balls.

Sophomore Alyx Schulte was the only other JSU player with double digits in digs, while seniors Caitlin Vorbeck and Brooke Schumacher added nine and eight digs, respectively.

Vorbeck was one of three JSU players with 10 or more kills, a trio that was led by Kara Slater. The senior from Colorado Springs, Colo., used a .304 attack percentage to put down 12 kills in 23 swings. Vorbeck added 11 kills, while sophomore Jen Meyer pitched in 10.

The Tigers were led on offense by Shaquita Williams' 20 kills on a .432 attack percentage, while Santia Sanders and Erika Moss each notched a double-double. Sanders had 15 kills and 11 digs, while Moss recorded 51 of the team's 59 assists and picked up 14 digs.

The Gamecocks will be at home on Tuesday at 7 p.m., when they host Tennessee Tech at Pete Mathews Coliseum.
