FINAL STATS

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State volleyball team had three players in double figures in each kills and digs on Friday night but the Gamecocks dropped a 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-17) match at second-place Austin Peay.

Sophomore Alyx Schulte notched her sixth double-double of the season with a team-high 16 kills and 11 digs to lead the Gamecocks (12-11, 7-5 Ohio Valley Conference). The Cold Spring, Ky., native used a .310 attack percentage to set a new season high in kills, but JSU dropped the match to the Lady Govs (19-6, 10-4 OVC) to split the season series.

On the back row, Schulte was bested only by junior Lauren Harkins, whose 20 digs led the JSU back row. A native of Louisville, Ky., Harkins hit the 20-dig plateau for the 11th time this season. Freshman Kaleigh Harvey, whose previous career high was four digs, notched 10 in the match for JSU.

On the offensive side of the net, seniors Caitlin Vorbeck and Kara Slater were the other two Gamecocks with double figures in kills. Vorbeck put down 11, while Slater added 10. Vorbeck was in on three of JSU's four team blocks.

Senior Brooke Schumacher was a dig away from a double-double in the match. The Lake In The Hills, Ill., native had 44 of the team's 48 assists and added nine digs on defense.

The Lady Govs had four players with at least three blocks, led by Taylor Skinner's four. Skinner also had a team-high 11 kills. Paige Economos and Ilyanna Hernandez picked up 21 and 18 digs, respectively.

The Gamecocks will play their final road game of the 2010 regular season on Saturday, when they take on Tennessee State at 2 p.m. in Nashville.
