BIRMINGHAM – Alabama State University's Jephtah Kenei and Courtney Gooch have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's and Women's Runners of the Week in the final weekend of the SWAC cross country regular season.

Kenei won Oakville's Cherokee Trails College Cross Country Invitational. The senior from Kapsabet, Kenya, was the top collegiate finisher in the 8k race with a time of 25:31.8. He earned one point in leading the Hornets to a third-place finish. It is the second time Kenei has won the honor this season.

Gooch was the top finisher for ASU at the Cherokee Trails College Invitational. The junior from Fresno, Calif., finished 8^th overall with a time of 19:41.7. She led ASU to a second-place finish. It was the first honor for Gooch.
