Kenei Wins Cherokee Trails Invitational

OAKVILLE-Alabama State University's Jephtah Kenei won the Oakville's Cherokee Trails College Cross Country Invitational to lead ASU to a third place finish. Kenei won the 8k with a time of 25:31.8.

ASU had another top-10 finisher as Charles Flewellen finished in ninth place with a 26:33.7. Christopher Duncan (27:19.0) finished in 16th place and Cody Pace (27:55.5) finished 24th.

Albert Florvill (29:24.3) finished 46th and Jerrell Mumford (33:18.7) finished 69th. ASU finished with 76 total points to trail the University of West Alabama, who won the invitational with 47 points and the host team, University of Alabama at Huntsville which finished with 55 points.

The ASU women's team finished second in the invitational with Courtney Gooch being the top finisher for the Hornets. She finished in 8th place with a finishing time of 19:41.7. Breana Kelly finished 10th with a time of 19:54.2.

Soyong Smith (20:11.3) finished 16th and Simone Buford (20:38.3) finished 23rdRaheema Hodges (20:45.8) had a 26th place finish and Lutrisha Altidor (21:50.5) finished 43rd.

The University of Alabama at Huntsville won the invitational finishing with 29 points. ASU's second place finish was garnered with 75 total points.

Both teams have now completed their regular season and will run in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Clinton, Miss.
