Morehead State Snaps JSU's Home Winning Streak

FINAL STATS

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State volleyball team lost its first home match since 2008 on Saturday, when the Gamecocks were swept, 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-11) by first-place Morehead State.

The Gamecocks (12-10, 7-4 Ohio Valley Conference) entered the game riding a 16-match win streak at home, but it was all Eagles (17-7, 11-1 OVC) on Saturday. MSU controlled every phase of the match to become the first team to beat JSU at home since the 2008 Morehead State team did it.

The Gamecocks hit a season-low -.039 and watched the Eagles hit .329 as a team. MSU was led by Holley Evans' 12 kills and Kaitlin Craven's 11, while Aryn Bohannon grabbed 11 digs.

JSU's Lauren Harkins led all players with 12 digs in the three-set match, while freshman Kelly Cole pitched in five.

Senior Kara Slater had four kills for the Gamecocks on 11 swings for a .500 attack percentage. She joined senior Caitlin Vorbeck and sophomore Alyx Schulte in the team lead in kills. Sophomore Jen Meyer and junior Stephanie Koontz each had three kills for the Gamecocks.

JSU will take to the road for its final trip of the season next weekend, when the Gamecocks will play at Austin Peay on Friday before wrapping up the trip at Tennessee State on Saturday.
