Arrizon's Second-Place Finish Lands JSU Women in Third

FINAL RESULTS

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore Ornella Arrizon finished second on Tuesday to lead the Jacksonville State women's golf team to a third-place finish at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate at the Clarksville Country Club.

Arrizon, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, finished second for the second time in three tournaments this fall after her final round 73 gave her a four-over 148 for the 36-hole event. She was the lone Gamecock in the top 15 and finished just three shots behind medalist Caroline Lagerborg of Murray State.

The Gamecocks entered Tuesday's round in third and stayed there with a 306. Their two-day total of 617 was six shots behind second-place Western Kentucky and 13 behind winner Murray State in the 12-team field. They finished six shots better than host Austin Peay and 11 ahead of Troy, who rounded out the top five.

Junior Astrid Parsson tied for 16th place with a 36-hole total of 156. The Malmo, Sweden, native fired back-to-back 78s to record JSU's second-best score in the 77-player field. Freshman Lourdes Lopez (81-77-158) finished 23rd for JSU, while junior Lucia Fernandez Valdes (77-82-159) tied for 27th. Sophomore Luz Armijo Fernandez (82-78-160) rounded out the Gamecocks' lineup in a tie for 30th.

JSU will be back on the links on Monday, when the Gamecocks start the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Kiawah Island Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C.
