CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State women's golf team is in third place at the halfway point of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, thanks to a three-over 75 by sophomore Ornella Arrizon in Monday's first round.

Arrizon, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, used an even-par back nine to pull into a fifth-place tie in the 77-player field. She paced the Gamecocks to a 311 on the first day of the 36-hole tournament on the 5,960-yard Clarksville Country Club.

She led a trio of JSU players in the top 20 in the field, with junior Lucia Fernandez Valdes in 12th and Astrid Parsson in 16th. Fernandez Valdes carded a 77, while Parsson turned in a 78. Freshman Lourdes Lopez is in a tie for 36th after shooting an 81, while sophomore Luz Armijo Fernandez sits in 42nd after her opening round 82.

The Gamecocks are five shots behind Western Kentucky in second place and 13 behind leader Murray State. Troy and Belmont round out the top five, respectively.
