Alabama Boys Track & Field: PR Recap, March 30 - April 4
Alabama boys track and field athletes set personal records across multiple events during meets held March 30 through April 4. Highlights included school records in the high jump, shot put, discus, pole vault, and sprints from athletes across all classifications.
Tyrone Clary Jr. (Carver Montgomery) leads the state in the high jump after clearing 6-9 at The Wayne Murphy Invitational on April 4, improving from his previous best of 6-6. The senior's clearance set a school record and won the event over 19 competitors. Clary also improved his triple jump from 45-3 to 46-4 at the same meet.
Carter Castleberry (Winterboro) ran a school record 10.59 in the 100 meters at Lincoln Meet 3 on April 3, improving from 10.77. The junior ranks 15th statewide and 4th among juniors, winning the event over 60 competitors. Castleberry also lowered his 400-meter best from 48.95 to 48.91.
Jame Thompson (Spain Park) clocked 10.65 in the 100 meters at Spain Park Classic on April 4, improving from 10.99. The sophomore ranks 25th statewide and 2nd among sophomores, finishing 2nd of 55 competitors. Thompson also improved his 110-meter hurdles time from 15.70 to 15.68.
Hunter Purdue (Hoover) ran 10.61 in the 100 meters at John Esslinger Meet of Champions on April 4, improving from 10.94. The junior ranks 18th statewide and 5th among juniors, finishing 3rd of 49 competitors. Purdue also dropped his 200-meter best from 22.69 to 21.82.
Braylon Ellington (McAdory) posted 10.72 in the 100 meters at Spain Park Classic, improving from 10.97. The junior ranks 33rd statewide, finishing 3rd of 55 competitors. Ellington also improved his 200-meter time from 22.58 to 21.97.
Tomon Felton (Homewood) ran 10.75 in the 100 meters at John Esslinger Meet of Champions, improving from 10.88. The senior ranks 42nd in Alabama, finishing 4th of 49 competitors. Felton also improved his long jump from 23-5 to 23-10.5.
Taylor Stiner (Brewbaker Tech) clocked 10.82 in the 100 meters at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, improving from 11.75 to move to 65th in the state and 4th among sophomores. Stiner also set a 200-meter PR of 23.34, improving from 24.34.
Demone Porter (Carver Montgomery) ran 10.86 in the 100 meters at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, improving from 11.76. The junior ranks 76th in Alabama and 19th among juniors, finishing 5th of 83 competitors.
Tyri Cox (McAdory) posted 10.87 in the 100 meters at Spain Park Classic, improving from 11.53. The junior ranks 83rd statewide, finishing 4th of 55 competitors. Cox also improved his 200-meter time from 23.31 to 22.83.
Osmond Williams (Shades Valley/JCIB) clocked 10.88 in the 100 meters at JEFCO HS League Meet #4 on March 31, improving from 11.00. The senior ranks 86th in Alabama, finishing 2nd of 69 competitors.
Jordon Hill (McAdory) ran 10.91 in the 100 meters at Spain Park Classic, improving from 11.10. The senior ranks 100th statewide, finishing 5th of 55 competitors.
Chase Walker (Bessemer City) clocked 10.96 in the 100 meters at JEFCO HS League Meet #4 on March 31, improving from 11.42. The junior ranks 120th statewide, finishing 3rd of 69 competitors.
Rardrecus Addison (Pinson Valley) ran a school record 10.97 in the 100 meters at JEFCO HS League Meet #4, improving from 11.11. The sophomore ranks 124th statewide and 9th among sophomores, finishing 4th of 69 competitors. Addison also improved his long jump from 18-6 to 18-8.5.
Evan Jones (Arab) clocked 10.97 in the 100 meters at the Albertville Invitational on April 2, improving from 11.16. The senior ranks 124th in Alabama, finishing 2nd of 40 competitors. Jones also improved his 200-meter time from 23.23 to 22.68.
Joesiah Chambers (Russell County) ran 11.00 in the 100 meters at Warrior Open on April 4, improving from 11.11. The senior ranks 143rd statewide, finishing 2nd of 12 competitors. Chambers also improved his triple jump from 40-3.5 to 41-2.
Manuel Hernandez (Pike Road) ran a school record 21.83 in the 200 meters at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, improving from 22.13. The senior ranks 49th statewide, finishing 5th of 75 competitors. Hernandez also improved his 400-meter best from 49.06 to 48.57.
Kenneth Hooks (Pike Road) clocked 21.96 in the 200 meters at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, improving from 22.72. The senior ranks 63rd in Alabama, finishing 8th of 75 competitors.
Kodi Payne (Auburn) ran 22.02 in the 200 meters at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, improving from 22.69. The senior ranks 73rd in Alabama, finishing 9th of 75 competitors. Payne also improved his 400-meter time from 49.60 to 49.51.
Zander Cooktodd (Prattville) clocked 22.08 in the 200 meters at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, improving from 22.38. The junior ranks 79th in Alabama, finishing 10th of 75 competitors.
Taygan Harris (Scottsboro) threw a school record 56-2.75 in the shot put at John Esslinger Meet of Champions, improving from 54-6. The senior ranks 6th in Alabama and 4th among seniors, finishing 3rd of 36 competitors.
Morgan Butler (Vestavia Hills) recorded 51-10 in the shot put at John Esslinger Meet of Champions, improving from 49-11. The junior ranks 21st in Alabama and 5th among juniors, finishing 5th of 36 competitors.

Blake Stavely (Huntsville) recorded 46-11.5 in the shot put at John Esslinger Meet of Champions, improving from 42-1.75. The senior ranks 79th statewide, finishing 11th of 36 competitors.
Jackson Bryant (Spain Park) threw 45-5.75 in the shot put at Spain Park Classic, improving from 41-5.5. The sophomore ranks 121st statewide, finishing 4th of 24 competitors. Bryant also improved his discus from 116-1 to 120-9.
Ezekiel Anderson (McAdory) recorded 45-5 in the shot put at JEFCO HS League Meet #4 on March 31, improving from 41-3.25. The junior ranks 123rd in Alabama and 22nd among juniors, finishing 2nd of 33 competitors.
Oren Smith (Hartselle) threw a school record 148-7 in the discus at North Alabama Junior High Gold Circuit Guntersville #2 on March 31, improving from 132-1. The freshman leads all freshmen in Alabama and ranks 39th overall, winning his heat of 31 competitors. Smith also improved his shot put from 41-4 to 44-0 at the same meet.
Kavarris Duncan (Winterboro) recorded a school record 153-5 in the discus at Lincoln Meet 3 on April 3, improving from 134-3. The junior ranks 26th statewide and 4th among juniors, winning the event over 48 competitors.
Joe Poole (McAdory) threw 150-4 in the discus at Spain Park Classic, improving from 141-1.25. The junior ranks 35th in Alabama and 7th among juniors, winning the event over 29 competitors.
Sam Williams (Marion County) recorded a school record 147-7 in the discus at Mike Spann Invitational on April 4, improving from 136-11. The senior ranks 43rd statewide, winning the event over 24 competitors.
Alex Aldridge (TR Miller) cleared a school record 14-6 in the pole vault at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, improving from 14-1.25. The junior ranks 6th statewide and leads all juniors, winning the event over 18 competitors. Aldridge also improved his discus from 115-7 to 121-9.
Brady Ferrell (Vestavia Hills) cleared 15-0 in the pole vault at John Esslinger Meet of Champions, improving from 14-6. The senior ranks 4th in Alabama, winning the event over 16 competitors.
Kaleb Baker (Opelika) jumped 23-6.5 in the long jump at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, improving from 23-0.75. The senior ranks 15th statewide and 5th among seniors, winning the event over 41 competitors.
Anthony Coker (Dadeville) jumped 21-8 in the long jump at Sylacauga Meet 3 on April 2, improving from 20-0.25. The senior ranks 90th statewide, winning the event over 21 competitors. Coker also improved his triple jump from 38-2.75 to 38-8.
Steven Sanders (Pell City) cleared 6-5 in the high jump at 5th Annual King of the East on April 4, improving from 6-3. The sophomore leads all sophomores statewide, winning the event over 9 competitors. Sanders also improved his long jump from 19-6 to 20-1.5.
Shawn Burns (Hoover) clocked 1:57.33 in the 800 meters at John Esslinger Meet of Champions, improving from 1:59.34. The junior ranks 32nd statewide and 3rd among juniors, finishing 6th of 81 competitors.
James Stracener (Mountain Brook) ran 4:34.85 in the 1600 meters at John Esslinger Meet of Champions, improving from 4:39.15. The senior ranks 139th in Alabama, finishing 24th of 68 competitors.
Edward Strickland (Brookwood) clocked a school record 16.22 in the 110-meter hurdles at Panther Prowl on April 2, improving from 17.14. The senior ranks 135th in Alabama, winning the event over 11 competitors.
