Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
This Week's Nominees:
Amaya Wells, Mae Jemison High School (Alabama): Won the 100 meters in 11.78 at the Bob Jones Invitational, breaking her PR of 12.10 set in February. Also set a new PR in the 200 meters with a 24.96, improving from 25.21 and moving to #2 in the state.
Layla Straw, Enterprise High (Alabama): Swept the sprints at The 2026 Wayne Murphy Invitational, clocking 24.17 to win the 200 meters and 12.03 to take the 100. The #1 sophomore in Alabama in both events this season.
Eva Armstead, Hatton (Alabama): Posted a pair of PRs at the Bob Jones Invitational, winning the 400 meters in 54.98 after improving from 56.47. Ran 24.52 for second in the 200, breaking her PR of 24.78 and finishing ahead of state #2 Amaya Wells.
Brianna Stephens, Lee-Huntsville (Alabama): Competed in four events at the Bob Jones Invitational, highlighted by a winning high jump clearance of 5-8. The mark broke her previous PR of 5-7 set in March and also placed fourth in the long jump at 17-3.
Katherine Lee, Auburn HS (Alabama): Clocked 14.06 to win the 100m hurdles at The 2026 Wayne Murphy Invitational, a new PR breaking her previous best of 14.10 from March.
