Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
This Week's Nominees:
Paxton Weatherly, Hoover (Alabama): Posted PRs in both sprints at the John Esslinger Meet of Champions, clocking 10.52 in the 100 and 21.55 in the 200. The 100 time broke his PR of 10.71 set in March at the FSU Relays, while his 200 improved from 21.87 from the same meet. Beat state-ranked sprinters Tomon Felton (#11 in the 100) and Cameron August (#7 in the 200) head-to-head.
Mikele Ellison, Huntsville HS (Alabama): Won the 200 at the John Esslinger Meet of Champions in 21.38, defeating a field that included #2 state-ranked Paxton Weatherly and #7 Cameron August. Also placed third in the 400 in 48.30.
Cameron August, Hoover (Alabama): Turned in a pair of PRs at the John Esslinger Meet of Champions, winning the 400 in 47.89 while improving his 200 time to 21.73. His 400 victory came over #3 state-ranked Mikele Ellison, while the 400 time broke his previous best of 48.07 and his 200 improved from 22.03.
Tomon Felton, Homewood HS (Alabama): Won the long jump at the John Esslinger Meet of Champions with a leap of 23-10.5, a new PR improving from his previous best of 23-5 set in March 2025. Also ran a 100 PR of 10.75, breaking his mark of 10.88 from earlier this season.
Tyrone Clary Jr. , Carver Montgomery (Alabama): Cleared 6-9 to win the high jump at The Wayne Murphy Invitational, a PR from his previous best of 6-6. Also placed second in the triple jump with another PR of 46-4, improving from 45-3. Competed in three field events, adding a second-place long jump of 21-3.5.
