Gamecocks Fall 2-0 At UT Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State soccer team dropped its second Ohio Valley Conference match of the weekend as UT Martin shutout JSU 2-0 on Sunday in college soccer action.

The loss drops the Gamecocks to 3-10-1 overall and 1-3 in league matches. The Skyhawks improved to 6-6-1 on the season and 2-2 in OVC play.

UTM limited the Jax State offense as it held the visiting Gamecocks to just two shots in the contest. The Skyhawks were credited with 23 shot attempts and were successful on two in the match. UTM put its first goal on the scoreboard in the 20th minute after Jenni Duffy bent a corner kick from the left into the goal. Freshman Amy Meehan, who made her first career start in the match, had JSU's lone scoring chance in the first 45 minutes as she pushed her shot left of the goal.

UTM added an insurance goal in the 71st minute as Rosaelia Loza scored from 15 yards out past a diving Katelyn Geddings. Jax State split time at the goal keeper position as Ali Koenig was in goal for the first half and Geddings manned the goal in the final half. Geddings posted five saves while in goal. Nathalee Lariviere was credited with JSU's second half shot attempt.

The Gamecocks conclude the three-match OVC road trip next Friday in Clarksville, Tenn. Against Austin Peay.
