Stam Leads JSU Women To Top 20 Finish At The Sean Earl Invite

CHICAGO, Ill – Sophomore Ericka Stam completed the Loyola University Sean Earl Invitational in 22nd place to lead the Jacksonville State women's cross country to a top-20 finish in the Windy City on Saturday. The JSU men placed 35th in the collegiate men's 8K.

Stam, from Keller, Texas, turned in a mark of 18 minutes, 32 seconds in the women's collegiate 5K. Stam has now led Jax State in all four meets this season and has finished in the top 20 in each of the four competitions. Kevyn Tracy crossed the line in 19:31 while Ashley Stovall followed Tracy with a 19:42 mark. Veronica Citireag (19:48) and Latasha Sturkie (20:12) rounded out the scoring for the Gamecocks, who placed 20th in the 41 team field.

On the men's side, Matt Brick continued to JSU as he turned in a time of 27:07 over the 8K layout. Nicholas Tirop registered a time of 28:02, followed by Josh Hulsey's mark of 28:21. Bethuel Kiplagat finished the team score with a time of 29:19.

The Gamecocks will now turn their attention to the annual JSU Foothills Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 9, in Oxford, Ala. at the Oxford Lake & Recreation Center.
