Jax State Soccer Drops Overtime Match To Murray State, 1-0

MURRAY, Ky. – Jacksonville State dropped a tough 1-0 overtime decision to Murray State in Ohio Valley Conference women's soccer action on Friday.

JSU falls to 3-9-1 overall and 1-2 within league play. The Racer win snapped an eight game losing skid as MSU bumped its season mark to 2-9-2 and picked up its first win in OVC play.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, MSU's Danielle McMurray scored the game-winning goal five minutes deep into the extra session. McMurray's goal came from a double pass from 35 yards out as Rachel Longley assisted on the play.

The Racers posted 18 total shots in the contest as 11 of the attempts came on goal. JSU goal keeper Ali Koenig was credited with 10 saves in the setback. The Gamecocks had ample scoring chances in the first 45 minutes as they carded eight of their 14 shots in the half, including both of its on goal attempts coming in the first half. Junior forward Chelsea Pelletier and sophomore Nathalee Lariviere registered the on goal attempts for JSU. Pelletier finished with a team-best five shots.

MSU's Katie Wilson tallied a match-best six shots, including three on goal.

The Gamecocks return to OVC action on Sunday, Oct. 3 at UT Martin. Match time is set for 2 p.m. in Martin, Tenn.
