Live Stats | OVCSports.tv

JACKSONVILLE – After posting a 1-1 mark on the opening weekend of Ohio Valley Conference play at home last weekend, the Jacksonville State soccer team takes to the road this weekend against Murray State and UT Martin.

The Gamecocks and Racers will clash on Friday at 3 p.m. before JSU closes out the weekend with a Sunday afternoon affair with UTM. The JSU-MSU match will be available on OVCSports.tv along with a live stats feed at www.JSUGamecockSports.com.

JSU, who plays the next three matches on the road, enters the weekend 3-8-1 overall after topping Southeast Missouri last Friday and falling to Eastern Illinois in its last outing. MSU (1-9-0, 0-2), the OVC preseason favorite, has struggled out of the gates this season as it has dropped eight-straight matches dating back to a 1-0 win over Alabama A&M on Aug. 29. The Shyhawks of UTM (4-6-1, 0-2) will square off with Austin Peay on Friday before hosting Jax State.

Gamecock junior Chelsea Pelletier continues to lead the squad in goals along with being one of the top performers in the OVC. Pelletier pushed her season total to seven goals last weekend with a pair against SEMO. The Fort Worth, Texas-forward ranks second in the league goals scored. As a team, JSU is listed fourth in the OVC in goals scored with 16 on the season. Defensively, senior Alyshia Madison has anchored the Jax State defense. The Cheney, Wash.-product played the entire 180 minutes last weekend along with registering a shot. Sophomore goalkeeper Ali Koenig has been a mainstay in goal for JSU. Koenig ranks third in the league in saves with 55 on the season.

MSU holds a one-match advantage over JSU in the series between the two programs, including wins in the last two meetings. Friday's contest will be the eighth all time on the pitch. JSU claimed back-to-back wins over the Racers in 2006 and 2007. UTM and JSU have squared off eight previous times with both teams claiming three wins in the series along with a pair of draws in the series. JSU's last win over the Skyhawks came during the 2005 campaign.

Following this weekend's trip, JSU remains on the road next weekend as it travels to Clarksville, Tenn. to face APSU on Oct. 8.
