Jax State Football Remains No. 4 in Top 25 Polls

Jacksonville State, who owns the nation's longest winning streak at eight games, remained ranked No. 4 in the FCS Top 25 football polls, which were released on Monday.

The Gamecocks are coming off a 28-23 win over Eastern Illinois in the Ohio Valley Conference opener and is 4-0 for the first time since 2004. JSU remained No. 4 in The Sports Network/Fathead.com poll and also No. 4 in the FCS Coaches Poll for the third straight week.

It's the highest ranking for an Ohio Valley Conference team since Tennessee State was ranked No. 1 in 1999, and is the highest for the Gamecocks since moving to Division I in 1995.

Jacksonville State has been ranked for 19 straight weeks in the Top 25 polls, which is the longest such stretch in the school's Division I history.

The Gamecocks return to action on Saturday against Murray State. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium and tickets can be purchased at the JSU Athletic Ticket Office (Kennamer Hall), the Jacksonville State on-campus Bookstore (Theron Montgomery Building) and the Jacksonville Bookstore (Mountain Street).
