JSU Closes Out Non-Conference Slate With 3-0 Setback To Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. – The Jacksonville State soccer team closed out the non-conference season with a 3-0 loss to Louisiana Tech on Sunday at Lady Techster Field in Ruston, La.

The Gamecocks (2-7-1) will turn their attention towards the Ohio Valley Conference season that begins next weekend against Southeast Missouri and Eastern Kentucky.

Tech (9-2) closed out its tour against teams from the OVC with a 3-0 mark. Over the past five days, Tech has knocked off Tennessee Tech, Murray State on the road and topped JSU on Sunday on the home pitch.

Tech out-shot the Gamecocks 25-1 in the contest and posted two first half goals before expanding the lead in the final 45 minutes. Tech got on the board in the 22nd minute with a goal from ten yards out by Brittany Harbaugh. The Lady Techsters added to their lead moments before the halftime break as Lindsay Brough scored off a Tech corner opportunity. Harbaugh was credited with the assist on Brough's goal.

In the second half, Tech's Scotti Culton scored off a rebound from an Emily Brennan shot just seconds after the final period had started.

Jax State's lone shot came in the opening half as sophomore Austen Stoelting attempted a shot. Sophomore goal keeper Ali Koenig turned in four saves in the setback.

JSU and SEMO will get underway at 6 p.m. on Friday at the JSU Soccer Field.
