JSU Duo Named Preseason All-America by College Sporting News

Jacksonville State's #T.J. Heath and Alan Bonner# have been named to the College Sporting News Preseason All-America Team, which was recently released.

Heath, an All-American pick by three outlets last season (Associated Press, College Sporting News and Sports Network) led the OVC in passes defended and led the Gamecocks with six interceptions, including returning two for touchdowns against UT Martin early in the season. The junior also led the team with 10 pass break-ups and also forced a fumble and blocked a kick. He recorded 34 total tackles on the season, including 20 solo stops. The Alexandria, Ala., native was a second team selection.

Bonner, an OVC All-Newcomer selection in 2009, led the Ohio Valley Conference and ranked ninth nationally in punt return average at 13.9 yards. He also hauled in 14 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns, an average of 27.3 yards per game and 21.4 yards per catch. The Newnan, Ga., native was a third team preseason selection.

Eastern Kentucky's Jeremy Caldwell (DB) and Austin Peay's Terrence Holt were the only two other players selected from the Ohio Valley Conference. Overall all 14 conferences, 58 schools and 99 players received 2010 preseason NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision All-American honors from College Sporting News.

Jacksonville State opens the 2010 football season on Sept. 4 at Ole Miss. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and the game will be carried live on CSS television.
