JSU's Jordan Beistline Named to All-Star Squad

BALTIMORE – Jacksonville State's Jordan Beistline has been name to the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League All-Star team and will play in the Mid-Atlantic Classic on Wednesday, July 14.

The Mid-Atlantic Classic features All-Stars from the Cal Ripken League taking on their counterparts from the Valley Baseball League in a rare inter-league summer college baseball match-up.

Beistline has a 3-1 overall record and a 1.71 earned run average in his four starts this summer for Bethesda Big Train. He has tossed 26 1/3 innings, with 13 strikeouts and holding the opponents to just a .283 batting average.

Beistline, from LaGrange, Ga., helped Jacksonville State to the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship and a berth into the NCAA Baseball Regionals.

The right-hander was named to the 2010 OVC All-Tournament squad after allowing just three hits in six innings to help the Gamecocks to a 9-7 win over Tennessee Tech to advance to the finals.

Beistline also spent the 2009 season pitching for the Big Train, where he led the team with a 5-2 record and a 1.95 ERA.
