HUNTSVILLE – Former Jacksonville State standout pitcher Donovan Hand has been promoted to the Nashville Sounds in the AAA organization of the Milwaukee Brewers, the team announced today.

Hand has a 2.54 earned run average in 26 appearances out of the bullpen this season in the pitching-rich Southern League. He has recorded 38 strikeouts to just eight walks and the opponents are hitting only .285.

The Hatton, Ala., native was selected to the 2009 All-Star squad last season after leading the Stars to the first half championship.

Hand was a three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection and won 26 games pitching for the Gamecocks from 2005-07. He was a 14th-round selection by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft.
